Artibrand worked with the Remembering Together East Lothian team to create 6 trail maps, along with zinc rubbing posts, free standing signs, downloadable digital maps and a printed fold out map.
“Through community consultation, six walking trails have been mapped across East Lothian to encourage people to come together and connect socially with the healing qualities of nature, reflecting the daily walking practice adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic when we were encouraged to walk once a day for up to one hour within a 5 mile radius from home. They start and finish on local transport routes, offering an inclusive community resource that is easily accessible, that can be integrated into various facets of everyday life.“
Steve Kirkpatrick worked closely with the team, which comprised of 2 lead artists, East Lothian Council and a variety of partners associated to each walk. Apart from creating the maps, Steve illustrated a selection of flora and fauna, which you are likely to see on each trail. These are represented on each map and on zinc rubbing posts at the start of the trails.
